Galatians
This is one of the best commentaries on Galatians by a very knowledgeable New Testament scholar. Richard Longenecker brings about his significant knowledge of rabbinic traditions to bear on the ancient Galatian situation.

The Bible Among the Myths
This is a very good book that demonstrates that the Old Testament should be looked as history rather than myth. The author compares the biblical worldview with that of other ancient cultures and religions.

Mysteries of Mithra
This is an older book but it is still a classic. This is a great introduction to the Roman mystery culy of Mithraism and how it developed from its Persian origins. There is a useful chapter that deals with the relationship to Christianity.

Kabul24
A true and very interesting story about some Shelter Now International (SNI) workers taken hostage in Afghanistan around the time of the 9/11 attack. Inspiring in the level of forgiveness and helpful in seeing the Afghan situation in a new light.

nuChristian
This book is a response and a continuation of the conversation begun in unChristian. It is a hard look at the issues raised there with deep reflection on Scripture and the ministry experience of a talented pastor of an emerging church. I did not agree with everything but all the right questions are asked and I highly recommend this short but useful book.

This is a very good overview of the structure of Greek mythology by one of the top scholars in the field. A good model for doing comparative religion.

Gifted Hands
This was a very good movie about a talented neurosurgeon and the struggles he has growing up from difficult circumstances. His Christian faith plays a great role in his life and career. Very inspiring and far from the cheesy Christian movies of years gone by.
