Can We Trust the Gospels?
This is an excellent book. Mark Roberts looks at the Gospels, not as inspired Scripture, but as historical documents. Using both evangelical and liberal scholarship, Roberts demonstrates that the Gospels are trustworthy historical sources. This book is scholarly sound but is accessible for interested laypeople.
