Patterns of Persuasion in the Gospels

This book looks at a number of passages in the Gospels in terms of Greco-Roman rhetoric. An interesting way to look at some familiar passages.

Odyssey

This is the sequel to the Iliad which describes the return of Odysseus to his home and all the adventures along the way. A classic Greek epic. Includes the Greek text as well.

Cicero: On Divination

This book includes the text of the first century BC Roman writer Cicero's first book on divination (presenting the case for) as well as a lengthy commentary on the text. A very helpful book for understanding Greco-Roman religion.

Thucydides

This is a very interesting look at one of the earliest historians. The author looks at what Thucydides wrote and looks within the text to see areas where Thucydides is providing interpretation rather than just a chronicle. A great book for anyone interested in Greek history.
